Half of the world loves G (the recent ABC book teaches G for Google) and rest half are scared..
Google is our friend or foe ..the best of world's marketers still have their case studies incomplete.. They r not yet convinced to reach at any conclusion.
Working in a competitors company, every 3 sentence we discussed we say the word "google" once. its not me, even my search head from US who gave a talk recently,was observed doing the same. If google can, why cant we !!!
What I felt (1 year back) is, It empowers me, with its rich set of access to the information. Its a tool or moreover a service that converts user questions into search queries and maps it to the best result I wished. ( u say within, guru sab janta hai )
But using google no more only means, "extracting information from the internet labrynith", now for me its, revealing more of myself to google/to the internet world. Google knows each and every pattern of my behavior.
To pen down a few,
1. I search max on thursday( on an avg 67).
2. During a day between 11-12 ( max serach queries are fired )
3. It knows many more , what books, what places I search in map( Google knows I have kenya tiger safari in mind)
4. The trends made me stand still
5. It suggested me few keywords ,websites

I always used to believe on google, but never trust it. I hope we understand the difference.
Being a technical person, I never wish to make google to behave smarter with me.
Thats the reason, I dont click on google search results, never directly click on sponsored links.i think google watches each and every query in the world.
When I say google, Its the machine , the computation algorithms.
It will not be very far when ppl will claim that, G knows them more than their spouse/ mother.
Also, may be guy's will go through their intended spouse's google search trends before going on their date.I think this will really help in understanding the character.
This is because, G will remain to contribute a large part into person's thinking/ shaping of the thoughts and that is where a person exists.
I still imagine, one day I will type www.google.com, and reply will be
I think you want search for the result of "_________", here are your answers
hey man not an impossible thing, google will give u the answer before u type the question

So whats the whole point of this post? Is it that Google is doing evil things or that Microsoft should up it's ante and get into newer evil areas? [Which I'm sure it would love to :P]
BTW, you totally misrepresent and exaggerate the evilness, as you are given complete control over how much control over your data you bestow with them....
its not exaggarate, its the smartness of google, which makes me feel restlessness..suffocation within.
thinking..what will be the next company that will beat Google.
