The Great Escape

The escape scene using motocycle was quite inspiring one in the movie great escape and had kept its mark in the memory.

Last thursday me and Rakesh tried to escape to pune from hyderabad on a thunderbird bullet.A 550 km oneway journey planned to be completed in 11 hours. We could complete only 480 and came back, but with so many experiences. It will stay as an awesome feeling within me for sometime.

I experienced the riding at 100 kmph speed for continuous 30 - 45 minutes. I had an illusion about the highway side dhabas, their ambience, food and how happening they are. Always wanted to experience it.What I found is really worse food and pretty gloomy in late nights. Just realised what luck is , when our bike got punctured in the middle of the highway, we were pushing the 200 kg bike up the slope and just found a village withing 15 minutes with no hope within. Another instance, when you are speeding at 90 kmph to overtake the truck and then you find the distant head light from the approaching truck is getting brighter each second and you need to do it in next 5 seconds. You need to accelarate to to overtake the truck to go to the safe left zone OR declerate to be on the left and the rider decides to overtake. You sitting at the back seat just have trust and hope left with you and you cross both the trucks in the same way the third line intersects the 2 parallel lines in 2D geometry and I realised what is life.

We slept in a lodge in the village. The words that can perfectly describe the lodge is "the decent lodge in hindi movis Jab we met". The face down and ass up position was my first experience in sleeping in that pose. Usually i sleep facing up. Why such a pose, because sitting on the bike for whole day is real pain in the ass. If you are using the term and have not felt it , advise you to do this stunt.

Some beautiful scenaries , helpful villagers and rain was our part of the journey. We never felt of not able to make it to pune and coming back from 70 kms before pune. It was just a point we wanted to reach, but i think got all we wanted from the bike trip.

Biking ka bhoot bhi utar gaya. The end is same as it happened with Steve MacQueen in the movie Great Escape. He could not jump over the german border and smiled at soldiers to wait for the next time.
